Island RIBs Overview
Island RIBs may be a new name in the industry, but the company boasts a highly experienced core team, including powerboat designer Brian Hallett. Between 1996 and 2009, Brian Hallett designed and manufactured more than 180 RIBs under the Coastline brand and gained a reputation for producing some of the best RIBs on the market, highly regarded for their excellent sea-keeping qualities and robust build quality.
Island RIBs latest range is the next evolution of Brian’s market-leading designs. The deep-v hull offers an exceptionally smooth and comfortable ride with highly responsive and predictable handling, making our boats safe even in difficult sea conditions.
Our RIBs are built entirely by hand at our premises in East Cowes using only Lloyds approved composites. All toolmaking, laminating, engineering and fit out is carried out in-house by our small team of tradesmen in a procedurally controlled manufacturing process. Retaining complete control of the build from design to delivery allows us to ensure that the highest standards of quality are maintained throughout the process.
Build and Design
Brian Hallett’s tried and tested, market-leading RIB designs have been further improved and new tooling produced by Island RIBs. The design and build of this new tooling has been led by Brian, a director of the company.
The traditional hull design with a deep V and high bow makes use of planing flats and spray rails to produce a balanced craft capable of carrying a substantial load.
Brian’s hull designs are renowned for their excellent seakeeping qualities, their soft ride and predictable handling in all conditions. Our hulls meet the requirements of the RCD and the MCA code of practice for small commercial vessels.
From our designs we have constructed plugs and moulds, and using these we manufacture all of our RIBs by hand at our workshops in East Cowes.
The moulded hull and deck (with full-length internal stringers) are structurally bonded to form a rigid monocoque. An underdeck moulded recess houses the stainless steel fuel tank. The Hypalon sponsons and inboard diesel or outboard petrol engines are supplied directly from the manufacturer and our in-house installations are manufacturer approved. Our consoles, seats and stainless steel fabrications are designed and manufactured in-house. The vessel comes with full warranty.

Hull and Deck
A rigid monocoque structure. Hand laminated, moulded hull and deck, with full-length GRP encapsulated, stringers and bulkheads.
Tapered tubes manufactured from Hypalon coated fabric (impervious to fuels and oils, U.V. resistant). Available in a range of colours and styles. Wear patches, bow fairlead and ‘D’ section rubbing strake.
Console and seats
Our consoles are designed and manufactured in-house to provide weather protection. A full height, shatterproof, polycarbonate windscreen sheds water and provides clear vision ahead. A variety of our own ‘standard’ and ‘shock mitigating’ seating is available.
For both petrol and diesel boats, a stainless steel fuel tank is mounted in an under deck recess. An electronic fuel sender allows real time calculation of range, time to run, volume or level indication and water in fuel detection (as standard). Dual fuel filters and fuel shut-off valve as standard.
Marine grade, tinned copper wire is used throughout. Underdeck, watertight con-duits and dedicated, ventilated battery stowage compartments with stainless steel battery tie downs (dual battery systems available). Twin independent bilge pumps as standard.
All of our boats are available with either diesel inboard or petrol outboard engines. We supply engines directly from all major manufacturers.
